March 2016-- JMA Solutions is a strong supporter of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and their critical mission to improve educational opportunities for minority students. Because education is one of JMA's core values, JMA’s charitable efforts ensure students are able to attend school and perform to the best of their ability.
On Saturday, March 5, 2016, JMA sponsored and attended the UNCF Mayor’s Masked ball in Washington, DC, hosted by Mayor Muriel Bowser. The event is an annual fundraiser held in various cities across the nation and raises thousands of dollars to benefit UNCF Scholarship Programs. This year’s black-tie ball featured a parade of dignitaries, which included a formal dinner and live entertainment. Attendees also bid on live auction packages, including a weekend at the Kentucky Derby, Super Bowl 51 tickets, movie premiere tickets and more.
UNCF is the largest and most effective minority education organization in the United States. For over 70 years, the UNCF has played a major role in enabling thousands of students nationwide to achieve a higher education. The organization, in fact, has raised more than $4.5 billion that has helped more than 400,000 students attend college. Each year, the organization awards 10,000 scholarships and internships for students from low- and moderate-income families, allowing them to attend more than $1,100 institutions and universities.
According to UNCF Advocacy, “the latest iteration of UNCF’s PSAs frames support for minority education as investment in better futures for students and all of us, and expands the iconic motto 'A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in.'”
